I’m not sure if you have concerns with your hair.  I really hate it when I experience a bad hair day, when my hair is all dry and frizzy.  I’m not sure why, but it has the power to affect my mood all throughout the day.  I feel ugly and all that.  Maybe you’ve experienced the same thing.  If you are trying to grow and care your hair in time for your wedding, go on and read.  Today’s bad hair day can be tomorrow’s worst hair day.

There are a lot of causes of dryness.  Most often than not, you are not really aware that they are really harmful and you’ve included them in your daily beautification regimen for years and years.

Gels for example are good for smoothing the hair, but usually gels come with high alcohol concentration that is drying to the hair.  Choose gels that are made specifically for frizzy hair and these contain relatively less alcohol.

Another hair killer is the heat!  This comes in many shapes, colors and voltage.  Apart from the main source of heat of the world which is the sun, we girls usually have these cunning killers in our rooms: the curling iron, the flat iron and hairdryers.  The higher the heat and the longer the heat is used, the greater damage is done to the hair.  It’s better to use a low setting on a dyer and of course, a diffuser.  If your hair is dry, try washing it just two or three times a week using a mild shampoo and a quality conditioner that uses vegetable proteins to reconstruct extremely dry and damaged hair.

One major factor that makes hair dry is malnutrition, the lack of nutrients for the body to maintain a healthy scalp and hair.  The required nutrients you need to take are Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Iodine.  Vitamin A includes antioxidants that will assist in the production of healthy sebum.  Examples of foods rich in Vitamin A would be eggs and cabbage.  Vitamin C is another excellent source of nutrition for your hair.  This is a must for a healthy skin, scalp and hair.  Do include some green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits and berries in your daily diet.  Iodine is needed for thyroid hormone production.  This is a requirement to have a healthy skin, nails, hair and teeth.  This nutrient is found in crabsticks, oysters, fish, squid, shrimps, lobsters, pineapple and onions.

To prevent further damage, keep your hair in better condition.  Use creamy shampoos with built-in conditioners and those that are specifically for dry hair.  Do make sure that the shampoo you use is suitable for your hair type. If ever you see some split ends on your hair, don’t be afraid to sacrifice a few inches.  After all it’s for the sake of a healthier and more beautiful hair.

With a few simple tweaks in your hair-care routine and diet, you may find yourself having more good hair days.  Enjoy!
